The School of Social Work in Falk College, an approved provider of continuing education for LMSWs and LCSWs in New York State, presents “Living in the Grey: Helping Our Clients Negotiate the Ambivalence of Aging.”

The population of the United States and the world is aging. With this comes clinical issues that are particular to those 50 years old and over. It is important for clinicians to help clients’ negotiate existential questions, as well as knowing how to negotiate one’s own mortality. The best clinical practices for treating clients in this life phase will be discussed, as well as providing guidance on what daily practices enrich health and add to longevity. The workbook, “Zestful Aging,” will be available to participants.

Participant learning objectives:

  • Understand challenges specific to being over the age of 50
  • Address one’s own countertransference
  • Become familiar with lifestyle habits that increase physical and emotional health

Presenter: Nicole Christina, LCSW

Nicole Christina graduated from Smith College School for Social Work with her masters in social work. She currently works in private practice in Syracuse, NY. She is an experienced psychotherapist who specializes in body issues, mindfulness, and positive aging. She is a professional blogger and podcaster who focuses on healthy aging and longevity. Nicole publishes a monthly newsletter, Breathta Stesavor, which discusses wellness and good living as well as a podcast, Zestful Aging, which is all about women and metamorphosis. She is a contributor to New Times and CNY Thrive Magazine.
