Greetings from Syracuse!

I’m Jeremy Jordan, the new dean of Falk College. I’m a new member of the Syracuse University community and it’s a great privilege to be part of Falk College, a place where there’s both remarkable legacy and rich potential for the future.

I’m not the only new face at Falk College. This year, we welcome 319 first-year and 16 transfer students who join 123 graduate students in residential programs and 160 enrolled in one of our online programs. The Class of 2027 is a gifted group from 31 different states and 10 global countries. Falk College also welcomes five new faculty members and several new staff members.

I’m learning new things every day about this extraordinary place. For now, I’d like to share in this newsletter a collection of highlights from Falk College. I look forward to getting to know this community better and working together. We have so much to be proud of, and even greater things lie ahead.

A New Sports Frontier

Introduction to Sport Social Work, a new course in the School of Social Work, is ideal for any student across campus who’s interested in sports administration, coaching, or working in some way with athletes from high school through the pros.

A Global Perspective

Co-developed by public health professor Dessa Bergen-Cico, the International Drug Policy Academy is one of several unique opportunities for students to obtain international experience that exposes them to new ways of thinking about substance abuse.

A Home Run Project

An engaged alum in Brandon Steiner and a forward-thinking professor in Dave Meluni created an opportunity for Sport Management students to partner with New York Yankees player Oswaldo Cabrera to help build his brand and create his marketing deck.

Associate Dean Appointed

In her new role as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Department of Nutrition and Food Studies Professor Kay Stearns Bruening will oversee program review, curriculum development, and accreditation for all Falk College academic programs.
