Dear Falk College community,
I am writing today to share the news release below that will be broadly communicated to our campus community later this afternoon. As noted in the announcement, Syracuse University’s go-forward plan for the human dynamics programs in Falk College includes the following: Public Health will join the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs; the School of Social Work will be housed in the School of Education; and a consolidated department that merges Human Development and Family Science and Marriage and Family Therapy will join the College of Arts and Sciences.
This reshaping of the human dynamics programs was informed by recommendations from the Human Dynamics Task Force and will go into effect July 1, 2025. By relocating to schools and colleges with stronger academic synergies, the human dynamics programs will be better positioned to prepare our students to thrive in human, health, and social services.
I know this has been a challenging time, and there are still many details that will need to be worked out in the coming months. We will keep you informed as those details are finalized, and as we continue with this transition we ask for your patience and cooperation as we help our human dynamics students, faculty, and staff make a smooth transition to their new homes.
Sincerely,
Jeremy S. Jordan
Dean and Professor
