Associate professors of child and family studies, Drs. Eunjoo Jung and Rachel Razza, are the newly named undergraduate and graduate directors, respectively, in the Department of Child and Family Studies. As undergraduate director, Dr. Jung works in conjunction with the department chair and oversees all undergraduate programs and operations including curriculum development, student inquiries, advising, and undergraduate awards. Falk College today announced the opening of the Nutrition Assessment, Consultation and Education (ACE) Center, a new hands-on learning laboratory to prepare students with traditional and emerging professional competencies critical to effective nutrition practice. Four advanced standing MSW students received Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant awards as a part of the Upstate New York Mental and Behavioral Health Education Consortium (UNY-MBHEC). The School of Social Work in Falk College today announced it will offer two new revised and renamed advanced concentrations to ensure that its curriculum prepares graduates in accordance with current best practices. The concentrations include the Advanced Clinical Practice (formerly the Individuals, Families and Group, or IFG concentration) and Advanced Integrated Practice (formerly Community Organization, Policy, Planning and Administration, or COPPA concentration). Grant awards from the Community Foundation of Central New York and the John Ben Snow Foundation will support a new collaborative project, led by principal investigator, Linda Stone Fish, Falk Family Endowed Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy. The project, entitled, “In This Together,” will provide workshops to help social service professionals, educators, health care practitioners, juvenile justice workers, clergy, and mental health counselors learn how to identify and address signs of trauma.
