Dear Falk Students, Faculty and Staff:
You should have just received the below message from Sheriah Dixon, associate vice president and dean of students, regarding an incident that occurred in Irving Garage earlier today.
I have heard from many of you who witnessed the scene first-hand given the garage’s proximity to our facilities. Please know, in addition to the resources identified in the University message, Falk College is hosting counselors from the Barnes Center to offer support to our Falk community.
The counselors are currently located in the Dean’s Office in 440 White Hall. They will be available via drop-in today, and I encourage you to meet with a counselor if you have been impacted by today’s incident.
In addition, our Student Services counselors are available to meet with students individually today and at all times in Falk 330, Barclay Suite, in White Hall.
And, please do not hesitate to contact me, a member of my leadership team, your supervisor or your professor if you need additional support.
Sincerely,
Jeremy S. Jordan, PhD

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
A short time ago, the Syracuse Police Department, the Veterans Affairs (VA) Police and our Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to Irving Garage, adjacent to the VA Hospital, where the body of a deceased individual was discovered. Several members of our community reported what they observed to DPS.
The individual was not affiliated with Syracuse University, however we are saddened by the loss of life and recognize that this may be upsetting for members of our community, particularly those who observed the scene. As a reminder, there are several resources available to our students, faculty and staff for moments like these. They include:
- Students can receive confidential counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the Barnes Center at The Arch by calling 315.443.8000.
- For general ongoing assistance, students can contact Student Outreach and Support Monday through Friday at 315.443.4357.
- Faculty and staff can reach trained clinicians 24 hours a day through Carebridge, the University’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, by calling 800.437.0911.
- All campus community members can access additional services and support through Hendricks Chapel and each chaplaincy by calling 315.443.2901.
Sincerely,
Sheriah N. Dixon
Associate Vice President and Dean of Students
