Susan Coots

Internship Placement Coordinator

Susan started her career as a temporary employee at the local Planned Parenthood affiliate, igniting a passion for reproductive healthcare, sexuality education and reproductive justice advocacy. Her career has included coordinating and managing patient care at the NY Presbyterian/Mailman School of Public Health school-based health centers in Washington Heights, NY and overseeing all aspects of the Title X funded FPS of Syracuse. Susan has taught comprehensive sexuality education to youth from elementary school through college (including HFS 388 at Syracuse University) and to adults of all ages. She has co-authored articles published in The Journal of School Health and The Patient and it the author of “Sex Education at Home: A Guide for Parents”.

She has dedicated her career to ensuring access to reproductive healthcare and information, currently working as a consultant to local organizations in building their capacity to expand into family planning services.

Susan is a proud Syracuse University alumnus (B.S. Child and Family Studies) and received a MPH from Columbia University.
