As Syracuse University celebrates its Sesquicentennial this year, we couldn’t recognize our collective 150 Years of Impact without honoring the many professors and mentors like Dr. Sarah “Sally” Short, an academic trailblazer and proud Orange alumna whose dedicated teaching career at Syracuse University spans more than 50 years. Her eccentric teaching sparked student enthusiasm for the sciences and grabbed the attention of The New York Times. In 1975, the paper highlighted her “outlandish” teaching methods with a photo of Sally barefoot on a motorcycle which she would often ride into class.
