Sarah is a non-profit fundraising professional in New York City, where she specializes in donor research, management, and major gift strategy. She is currently the Prospect Development Manager at American Jewish World Service, a non-profit working to end poverty and promote human rights in the developing world.
Sarah found her love for fundraising through her interest in Human Development and Family Science. Three days before graduation in 2015, Sarah was offered a summer internship at the Planned Parenthood headquarters in New York City, which turned into a four year stint at her dream organization.
Sarah writes, “I would encourage students to think about their studies from multiple angles, and really focus on both their passion, and their skills. I am passionate about women, children, and pregnancy, but I knew that I did not want to be in a direct service setting. I was able to utilize some of my analytical skills (I was also a double major in policy studies) and find a place in the fundraising world. Most importantly, working at Planned Parenthood gave me the opportunity to work on behalf a population that I am passionate about, but in a behind the scenes setting. When I was ready to move on to new opportunities, my search focused on other non-profits with missions I could proudly stand behind.”
