Faculty research and scholarship
Faculty from the Department of Exercise Science have active, engaged research projects, many which span the globe. Topics include anti-inflammatory effects of exercise, effect of gene and environmental interactions on human athletic ability, skeletal muscle adaptations to disuse and aging, obesity and diabetes, physical activity promotion for individuals with disabilities and their families, among others.
Our faculty expertise includes early physical activity, body composition, and cardiovascular disease, childhood obesity, metabolism, type 2 diabetes, gene and environment impact on human athletic ability, aging and skeletal muscle function, diet, nutritional supplementation. Faculty in Exercise Science offer students tremendous opportunities for learning inside and outside of the classroom, including research projects, service learning opportunities and other scholarly endeavors.
