Learning Communities

The Health and Exercise Science Learning Community (HES LC) is open to first-year health and exercise science majors. Students live together, share first semester courses, participate in weekly or bi-weekly study group sessions and explore career interests through guest speakers, lab demonstrations, and site visits. Upper-class students also have an opportunity to become Peer Mentors within the program and can earn paid hours and Independent Study credits.

Study Abroad Opportunities

Exercise Science students have opportunities to Join a 3-week research and teaching expedition to the foot of the highest mountain on Earth, Mount Everest in Nepal through the Mount col Base Camp: The Human Response to High Altitude study abroad, or travel to Grahamstown, South Africa, where they will collaborate with local community partners to implement and evaluate a mutually-designed health education program.
